The new album, “If You’re Reading This, It’s Too Late,” released by Drake, went gold on the charts in the second week of sales. It holds 17 songs, featuring the artists Lil Wayne and Travi$ Scott.

His album was released as a surprise, without advertisement before it was published.

“I think the album cover is weird,” junior Deonna Hickman said. “It looks like a cover for a mixtape.”

There is some controversy about whether it is a mixtape or an album, because of the lack of publicity and energy in the cover.

“I think he was working on his perception the most for this particular album,” junior Erin Corey said.

When it was released to iTunes, it  sold over 600,000 copies in a week. The sales have been increasing rapidly, each week.

“It looks like he did not put any focus on the cover or album name,” said Hickman.

Drake wanted to fulfill his contract obligations from Cash Money Records, to come across as a true studio album. Most people do not think he accomplished that goal.

“On this album I like to listen to ‘Madonna’ the most,” junior Kionna Reid said.

Although the album is not a mixtape many students still think it is fire.
