In a Feb 10 taping of his show in New York, fake news comedian Jon Stewart announced live on his show that he will leave the Daily Show.

After 16 years of being the anchor on the Daily Show on Comedy Central, he will resign and leave the show sometime this year.

“It has been an absolute privilege,” Stewart said.  “It’s been the honor of my professional life.”

This was a source of news and comedy for many, especially young people.  The internet collectively grieved over the loss.

“I thank you for watching it, for hate watching it, for whatever reason you were tuning in for,” Stewart said.  “It’s the greatest feeling I could ask for.  Thank you.”
