Centuries ago, wisdom teeth were necessary to chewing coarse food diets relied on, such as roots, nuts, and meat. Over time, the human jaw has decreased in size causing problems with the wisdom teeth. Over 90% of Americans will need them removed in their lifetime.

Following the patterns of evolution, the human mouth with eventually not have wisdom teeth since the necessity is gone.
